Dog Training FAQ
Pivotal Dog Training FAQ
Check out the questions below or call us to learn more about our Dog Training programs!
When should I start training my dog?
As soon as possible. Don’t wait for a behavioral problem to start before giving Three Rivers Dog Training a call. We offer a special program for puppies aged sixteen weeks and younger to prepare them for life with your family. This program includes housebreaking, crate training, proper bonding (with you and other pets), proper leash handling techniques, basic obedience, etc. Whether your dog’s behavioral problem is out of control or under control, we can teach you valuable skills to keep your relationship with your pet happy and healthy.
Do you train aggressive dogs?
Yes, we do. We can help you eradicate your dog’s aggressive behavior, whether the trigger is people, animals, noises, fear, or territoriality. We will never suggest euthanizing or surrendering your dog. Aggression is a behavioral issue, which means it can be fixed.
My dog only needs basic obedience training. Is in-home training necessary?
In-home training is beneficial, no matter the behavioral problem, because it allows us to give you and your dog one-on-one attention, customize a training program to fit your needs, and keep you and your dog where you feel most comfortable.
However, if your dog is older than sixteen weeks and is not suffering from severe behavioral issues such as anxiety, aggression, or leash reactivity, our group training program may be a good fit for you. It’s called Practical Pet Protocol.
What are your qualifications?
All Pivotal trainers have graduated from Canine Trade Group’s school for professional dog trainers with a certification as a canine behaviorist. This means we’ve all spent over three hundred hours studying canine history, canine psychology, training theory, and training methods. We’ve also attended a three week hands-on training course with John Van Olden, a twenty-year veteran and expert in the field of dog training.
What is your service area?
We provide in-home training to any dog owner within forty-five minutes of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. If you’re not sure of whether or not we’ll travel to you, just give us a call. We’ll be happy to let you know.
How much does in-home training cost?
Our training company is commitment-based, which means that rather than charging by the session, we charge by the job. You pay one flat fee when you approve your customized training program, and you pay nothing else until your dog’s training is complete, no matter how lengthy the training is. Many of the people we’ve helped tried training classes or other in-home trainers before us. In short, they wasted a lot of money. Even if we’re your first choice, we’ll be your last because we simply don’t quit until the job is done.
Where does Canine Trade Group come in?
All of our trainers have been certified through Canine Trade Group’s certification program. CTG also acts as a network, connecting training companies with similar philosophies and training methods and making it easier for us to connect with owners. We are an independent business.
